![]() Law Enforcement Alliance Takes on President Obama for Unseemly Assault on PoliceJuly 24, 2009 WASHINGTON, July 24 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Thursday (7/23/09) the Law Enforcement Alliance of America (LEAA) appeared on WUSA9 television to defend Sergeant Crowley and blast President Obama for his improper, uncalled for and unseemly attack on an innocent white police officer. The President used the tremendous weight of his bully pulpit to single out a veteran police officer, called him stupid and then played the "race card." LEAA's Ted Deeds observes, "Every once in a while politicians on the extreme far left of the political spectrum let something slip that shows how out of step they are with not only the American people but the rest of their party. The President's assault on police by playing the race card is one such example." Sadly it is not the only one. - Then first lady of the United States and candidate for election to the U.S. Senate -- Hillary Clinton called four brave innocent New York police officers "MURDERERS." She used her political power to judge the officers, convict them and publicly execute their reputation before they ever had their first day in court. To make matters worse, after racial sensitivities were heightened, attendees at the New York Democrat convention spat upon the uniformed police officers carrying the American flag. - President Obama picked for lifetime appointment to the most powerful court in our land a candidate that is hostile to citizen's rights to self-defense. A candidate that won't support each American's Second Amendment rights, opposes the death penalty and appears to inject the race issue into public matters where race should not be a factor. - And now the President, in an apparently unscripted moment, reveals that he believes this veteran police sergeant is stupid. Through this public attack on Sgt. Crowley the President improperly injects the racism issue, effectively judging America's entire police community guilty of biased based policing (racial profiling). LEAA fears this is part of a disturbing trend of those on the far left of the political spectrum whose beliefs and actions are dramatically at odds with how the majority of Americans feel. "These political figures have missed the opportunity to improve race relations and have moved the debate the wrong direction; away from a color blind world where people are judged by their actions or the content of their character versus the color of their skin; away from protecting Constitutional freedoms," said LEAA's Ted Deeds. LEAA believes this pattern is offensive to everyone who wears a badge and to the vast majority of Americans who so strongly respect those who protect and serve. "America's public servants and our constitutionally protected freedoms deserve honor, respect and protection -- we should reject all politicians who don't believe in that."
