Friday night's Late Late Show featuring interviews with Sean Spicer and Liam Neeson had a 45 per cent share of people watching TV in Ireland at the time.

The former White House press secretary, who left his post in July, spilled the beans on working for Trump, admitting "every day was an eternity", and he said he regrets claiming Trump's inauguration was the best attended ever.

He also spoke of his regret over comments he made claiming Hitler did not use chemical weapons, and addressed Melissa McCarthy's protrayal of him on Saturday Night Live, and gave his take on the alleged 's***hole countries' comments made by Trump.

An audience of 586,000 viewers tuned in to watch Spicer and Liam Neeson, who also featured on the show.

Neeson's in-depth interview covered his life from before he was famous to his current standing as an action star at the age of 65. He spoke about not liking his own performance in Spielberg's Schindler's List and gave his take on the MeToo movement, describing some of the allegations as contributing to a "witch hunt".

The show drew the second highest audience of the season after the interviews with Ibrahim Halawa after his release from jail in Egypt, and Conor McGregor, who apologised for the use of a homophobic slur on the show.
