TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Pursuing education in the Scandinavian region has become increasingly attractive to young people in Indonesia. The Ambassador of Sweden to Indonesia, Daniel Blockert, revealed that over 900 Indonesian students have been accepted by Swedish universities in 2025. This figure is a significant increase compared to the previous year, which only amounted to around 160 students.

"This year, we are celebrating 75 years of bilateral relations between our two countries, and I am pleased to see many Indonesian students eager to study in Sweden," said Blockert in Jakarta on Saturday, April 12, 2025.

The Swedish Embassy organized the Join Sweden-Study & Career Fair on Saturday, April 12, 2025 at Hotel Artatel Gelora Senayan. The exhibition is part of the series of celebrations marking 75 years of diplomatic relations between Indonesia and Sweden. This event serves as a strategic platform to connect Indonesian students and professionals with educational institutions and companies from Sweden.

The fair offers various informative activities, including a talk show with speakers from the Indonesian Student Association (PPI) in Sweden, Indonesian professionals who have pursued careers in Sweden, and representatives from Swedish companies.

Participating renowned universities in the event included Chalmers University of Technology, the Royal Institute of Technology (KTH Royal), Lund University, Stockholm University, and Uppsala University. In the industrial sector, multinational companies such as Epiroc, Ericsson, Scania, and Volvo Cars were also present to offer career prospects for Indonesian talents.

Join Sweden not only focuses on disseminating information about educational and career opportunities but also facilitates networking and collaboration between Swedish universities, Indonesian professionals, and Swedish companies operating in Indonesia.

The increasing interest of Indonesian students in Swedish education signifies the strengthening of bilateral relations, while also paving the way for Indonesian talent to make contributions on the global stage through educational and professional avenues in the Scandinavian region.
