Carlo Ancelotti has been officially named the new head coach of the Brazil national football team. The Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) has revealed that the Italian manager currently at Real Madrid will assume the role starting on 26 May.
This appointment had been anticipated, with many predicting that the 65-year-old would depart from his position at the Bernabéu following the conclusion of the Spanish domestic season.
Ancelotti will become the first overseas manager of Brazil’s men’s national team, taking over ahead of the five-time World Cup champions’ June qualifiers against Ecuador and Paraguay.

The CBF’s announcement referred to the Italian as “a legend of the game, recognised as the most accomplished manager in football history.”
Ancelotti boasts an unparalleled record of five Champions League titles as a manager, having won thrice with Real Madrid and twice with Milan. He has also secured domestic championships with Chelsea, Paris Saint-Germain, and Bayern Munich, in addition to his successes at Milan and Real Madrid.
Xabi Alonso, who will leave Bayer Leverkusen at the end of the season, is considered a top candidate to succeed Ancelotti at Real Madrid.
